WHAT IS HABIT BASED COACHING?

The Habit Based Coaching option consists of a comprehensive, year long behavioral change program that delivers nutrition and exercise—either together or individually—in a convenient and affordable way.

The program is particularly ideal for:

  1. Those with no prior knowledge of exercise or nutrition
  2. Novice and beginner-intermediate level recreational strength athletes
  3. Those wanting to lose weight by improving both their eating and lifestyle habits

It is NOT particularly ideal for:

  1. Individuals with extensive knowledge of exercise, nutrition or both
  2. Intermediate, intermediate advanced, and advanced level recreational strength athletes
  3. Bodybuilders and clients with sport related goals
  4. Clients with short-term goals

Advanced individuals such as these should consider either the Premium Coaching option or DIY Fitness Program instead.

Those interested in participating in the Habit Based Coaching program will need a reliable internet connection, basic kitchen utensils and equipment, appropriate workout attire, a gym membership (or basic equipment, such as dumbbells), a camera or camera phone, and a private place to take pictures.  Some participants may also wish to buy a sewing tape, a handheld BIA device, and a high quality scale to track changes in body composition that are oftentimes not readily visible to the human eye.

After the client signs up for the coaching option that best suits his or her individual needs, he or she will receive an email invitation to create a personalized account.  Once the client completes the requisite intake and assessment forms located within his or her profile, he or she is automatically scheduled to begin the program on the following Monday.  Clients who choose to integrate nutrition and exercise for optimum results will receive daily e-mails with links to the following information once the program begins:

  • Lessons & assignments

    These occur in the form of articles, videos, audio files, and/or downloads.

  • Habits

    Clients are presented new habits in two week intervals, and asked on a day-to-day basis whether or not they have completed them.

  • Workout programs

    These provide highly detailed instructions for correctly performing exercises and workouts.

  • Regular progress checks

    Body weight, girths, photos, and subjective markers of progress are recorded in two week intervals.

  • Occasional surveys

    Clients may use these to share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns.

These scientifically proven, evidence based, training methodologies are designed to help clients achieve, and maintain, substantial improvements in health, body composition, and performance.  Unlike other training programs that demand rigid adherence to boring, coach-centered health and wellness plans, the Habit Based program empowers people by providing client-centered support and encouraging both self-determination and accountability.  In short, the Habit Based program shows, rather than tells, clients what to do.

Whether you’re a raw beginner, a weekend warrior or someone who just needs a little guidance, the Habit Based Coaching program puts everything you need to be successful right at your fingertips.

Those who choose the nutrition only option will not receive the workout and review cards associated with the workout program.  Similarly, those who choose the workout only option will not receive any lessons, assignments, or habits associated with the nutrition program.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Habit-based coaching consists of breaking down outcome goals (what you ultimately want to achieve) into smaller process goals (the steps taken to reach the outcome goal) that are achieved through the completion of strategic daily tasks (actions taken).  

Let’s say, for example, you want to lose 10 lbs. in two months.  This would be considered your “outcome goal”.  To reach this objective, you’ll have to burn more calories than you consume on a daily basis so you can lose approximately 1 to 2 lbs. per week.  This would be considered your “process goal”.  To achieve this aim, you would perform important daily actions, such as using smaller plates; eating low-calorie, nutrient-dense foods; and increasing physical activity.

By performing only one daily habit every two weeks, process goals will be gradually fulfilled and lead to the eventual completion of the desired outcome goal.

Instead of meal plans, the Habit Based Coaching program uses behavioral change strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.  In other words, the system focuses on using scientifically proven techniques that help clients take meaningful two-week steps toward long-term improvements in health, body composition, and performance.

Yes! The Habit Based Coaching program teaches clients how to find the macronutrient combinations and caloric levels that work best for their own specific goals and personal preferences. If anything, we teach clients how to become better at whatever it is they’re already doing!

Yes, there’s a smartphone app for the Habit Based program.

Clients stay accountable through daily habit tracking, lessons and assignments, occasional assessments, and support from their coach.

Enrollment is open, so clients are free to sign up whenever they choose!

The client is billed on the same day he or she signs up for his or her respective program and is subsequently billed the same amount on the same day every four weeks thereafter.
